Here is a simple touch that you may not have thought of before – don’t forget the hardwood vent covers. Those metal registers can really be an eyesore on a beautiful new hardwood floor. A hardwood vent is just the thing to finish off your new hardwood floors.
I recently had a friend visit my home and as she pointed to my beautiful hardwood vents she asked, “Why don’t I have those wood vents?” I felt horrible because I didn’t offer her the option of adding hardwood finished vents when our company re-sanded and finished her hardwood floors earlier in the year. Just so you know, you can add them once the floors are installed with the Surface Mount or Drop In-Style that comes with a damper, or use the Flush Mount during the actually laying of the hardwood.
Remember that vents come unfinished so you will have to hire your hardwood installer to sand and stain to blend with your new floor. The most readily available unfinished hardwood vents found in the market are Red Oak. Even if you are purchasing a pre-finished hardwood floor, my advice would be to add hardwood vents to finish off that project.
Bottom line, adding hardwood vents can add a spectacular finishing touch to your new hardwood floor. You’ll be glad you did it.
